I have my students do a variation on the whole egg thing that might be fun for kaia - it's actually to teach osmosis, how water moves in and out of cells. Once you remove the shell with the vinegar on an raw egg, weigh/measure it, then put it in any kind of syrup or jam overnight which will make it shrivel up, then into clean water and it will poof right up. You can also get an egg "Stuck" in a jar this way, if you put it into a narrow necked bottle after the syrup and then pour in the water. :) Hugs, Shannon

Karyn - That silly putty sounds fun! I'll have to try it!!

Lisa - I love getting into the energies of the plants. Once I started learning those, it really seemed like my treatments were more effective! For example, when I was pregnant with Kaia, I tried ginger over and over for my nausea, but it didn't do a thing. Everyone else swore by it, but I was sick from 2 am until 11am every day!! Then, I really got to thinking about it and realized that I am a hot natured person and ginger is a very heating herb. So, it was just exacerbating the problem. This time around, I used Peach leaf tincture. It's great for nausea in that hot/pitta type person. Worked like a charm, and helped me sleep too!

The energetics are just cool!!!

Two books that I really love for this are newer ones by Matthew Wood called The Earthwise Herbal. He Has one for 'Old World Medicinal Plants' and 'New World Medicinal Plants'.... Fantastic reference books!!!

Yes, I bet our girls would love to play together!!! Maybe one day we will get them together!

The pancakes sound good! That style of lava lamp is my girls' favorite. I love Kaia's expression! I think our girls would have a great time together. I showed my girls your house blog, they were fascinated with the roof.

BTW, do you have a favorite herbal book? I have all the basics, Rosemary Gladstar, Weed, and many others. Looking for one that gives more details; for example, the herbal energies. Thanks.

What a wonderful time at camp. Can I come too....

The lava lamp looks like great fun! Have you seen the recipe for the silly putty stuff with borax and white glue? My kids love that one.

With all the rain here these are great projects to give a try. Thanks.
