Mark this day in history! Today is the day that the “why’s?” began!
“Mommy, why do we walk on the sidewalk?”
“Well, there are fast cars are on the road so we stay on the sidewalk.”
“Why?”
“Because we could get hurt if we walked in the road.”
“Why?”
“Because cars drive on the road.”
“Why?”
“Well, the cars need somewhere to drive, so they drive on the road.”
“Why?”
“Because someone made a law that said cars drive on the road!”
“Why?”
“I don’t know, I guess it just made sense at the time!!”
“Why?”
“Because I said so!!”
“Why?”
“Because you are a nut-nut!!”
“Why?”
“Why not?”
………
You get the idea!
I got quite a chuckle out of this. Occasionaly, my friends and I have conversations like this, though we happen to be teenagers and simply do it because we like to amuse ourselves with simple and random things.
I look forward to the days when I can have such debates with small children. 😀
(Yeah, I’m one of those loco chicas who actually looks forward to and wants to be a homeschooling stay-at-home mother someday… odd, no?)
I’ve been getting “But WHY, Mama? But WHY?” from the backseat while we’re driving lately, too. Something must be in the air with the 2-year-olds!
Funny, I still get it from my 7 and 15 year old. I’ve started sending them to the library or the internet for the answers….cause some of them I don’t know! lol
