This is what Kaia and I harvested for dinner last night.
I also had some fresh nettles and green onions. So we fried up the nettles, morrels and onions in some butter and mead for dinner, and washed it down with a plantain/spearmint tea. It was delicious!
I love walking around the land and picking food from here or there! It’s such a great feeling to wild harvest foods and then such a healthy feeling to eat them!!
mmmm…morels. i wish my 5 i found in my yard had all come at once so i could have eaten them (i dried them for adding to a soup or something later).
i love to glean from the land and eat it too! it’s a great feeling, isn’t it?!
Yum – its early for morels here yet, but it won’t be long. I’m jealous!
I wish I knew how to forage for wild plants and mushrooms. That’s one area I have yet to explore, and I’d be afraid to try my hand at mushrooms I’m not really sure about.
What a wonderful skill you have!
Never had a morel before. I have never had the luck of finding them either. Do you have many patches on your place? Can you grow/cultivate them yourself with what you have?
Now that would be a nice garden! 🙂
I don’t have a particular patch where I find them… kind of here and there in the woods. If you google “grow morels” you will find a bunch of kits for growing them. Mmmmm, they are good!!
