This really pisses me off!!! Millions of Americans have given donations to churches and charities for Katrina victims. Now, they are asking to be paid for their services!!! Wait, isn’t that what organizations like Red Cross and churches and such are supposed to do, help those in need. Now they want reimburesement for the stuff that was donated to them in the first place??? Corupt, corupt people! It is part of our job, when we are born, to help others in need. You don’t ask for reimbursment for kindness and friendship!!
Oh, Maria, I agree this is nervewracking! And, I wonder if only certain types of “faiths” will be reimbursed????
Sad, I gave several donations with no tax receipts, no need for a word of gratitude–I just wanted to help!
My question is where is all the donations going that a tax payment is even needed?
that makes me sick.
On top of that, check out what the head of Red Cross gets paid… I stopped donating to them.
Yeah! I know! So, I sit back and hold onto my money and feel like a schmuck, but I’m not going to pad the pockets of the higher ups! Then I try to donate stuff that I can make that would be of use to people and it’s not accepted!
Congress passed a law in 1997 that reimburses the American Red Cross for every penny that they spend on a National Disaster. In other words, if the Red Cross spends 100 million on Katrina, then the Federal Goverment gives them 100 million. What happens to all the “donations” that the Red Cross has received? That goes into their pockets. It cost them nothing to aid except the cash up front. They get it all back.
Hmmm, well, that doesn’t sound right, now, does it??? I think I am going to have to direct my donations elsewhere!!
