We ordered our wood stove! A Hearthstone ‘tribute’. It should be in this coming week! Woohoo! We debated between a locally made ‘Appalachian Stove’, which cost $1000 less than this one, and the tribute. But, in the end, the reviews, cool look of the soapstone, and the hefty construction of this stove won out with us. Guess we’d better move all the construction crap out of the living room so we can put the stove in!
nice!
wow! beautiful!
Oooooooh! Ahhhhhhhhhh! Soooooooooooo jealous!!
What a great looking stove. We have heated our Wisconsin cordwood home with a Hearthstone since 1979 and it has heated our 2,000 sq. ft. home every year with comfort and ease. It is the focal point of the great room and everyone gathers around it and warms up.
You are doing a fantasic job of building your cordwood home. Congratulations. Your blog is so entertaining and enjoyable. I tell everyone who has a hankering for cordwood about your adventure and give them the link to your site.
Kudos.
Better arrange for a gang of friends to help you get it into the house. Those Hearthstones are incredibly heavy!
What made this stove stand out to you? I’m just starting to look into wood stoves for a new home, and would like some opinions from real users.
I’ve always liked the way they look, first of all. But, when we started looking into durability, output, pollution, etc the soapstone stoves always ended up on the top of our list. They have great ratings. I also have 2 friends who have them and love them. So far we love ours!!! It puts out lots of heat even with the big holes in our walls.
