Things are growing nicely in the garden! It was early blight on the potatoes. But, it was only on 5 of my fingerlin potatoes. So, I pulled them up and burned the tops. The potatoes looked fine, albeit small:
We’ve got zucchini and summer squash starting to come in, cukes the size of my pinky, snap peas galore (yum!) and still lots of greens. I’m having to get use to eating from the garden and not from the pantry… it’s nice…. but major canning time is just around the corner.
Here are shots of the garden from the roof… lots of progress from a month ago
And a shot of some blooms on the roof:
yarrow and calendula
I love your blog. Just wanted to drop a note and tell you that I enjoy reading your adventures in homesteading and to ask how big the area is where your raised beds are. I have a small yard (1/2 acre) and currently garden in raised beds, but need a larger area. I like the way your garden is laid out.
Again, Keep writing…I love the information. LOL, I even bought the bread book at your recommendation and it’s GREAT ! Have a great day.
Your garden looks fantastic! And those potatoes – yum. Glad you caught the blight early and can still eat the taters.
I’m not sure how big the garden area is actually 🙂 We have 25 acres, but very little of that is not wooded. The garden area is probably about 100′ x 30′ or so, but there is 3 feet in between each garden bed. We also have a smaller space on the other side of the house that is 30 x 30 or so. And the fruit trees are spread out all over the place. Still, you can have a huge garden on 1/2 acre!! Have you ever read the Path to Freedom blog?? They support themselves on their city lot in LA. It’s a great site!
wow! your garden looks terrific!
i bet the roof looks gorgeous with all that color up there.
I love your garden! It looks wonderful. 🙂
What a lovely garden! I see lots of calendula…..one of my favorite herbs! Happy birthday to your little 6yo tomorrow. Ahhh, they grow up so fast!
